NTS012: Community-Led WASH and Nutrition Programming

About the Course

Nutrition is a key aspect in our day-to-day life. Sanitation related diseases affect the nutrition status of both children and adults which may consequently lead to morbidity and mortality particularly for children and lactating mothers, yet these conditions can be managed through appropriate nutrition. Therefore, addressing challenges of nutrition, food sanitation and hygiene are key components for a healthy community. Further, in emergencies, addressing both nutrition and sanitation is key in managing the situation since they complement each other.
The course is designed to equip the participants with knowledge on how to manage WASH related diseases nutritionally. The module provides programing skills on WASH and nutrition. The design of the module is not only to focus on increased access to water and sanitation services, but also access to proper and adequate nutrition. Site exposure visits for practical learning is covered to give first hand practical experiences.
